INCREASING numbers of people forced a church congregation to move to a new home.

The congregation of Hampstead Road Church in Dorking moved into new premises at Priory School's performing arts centre on Sunday, July 11.

Church leader Mark Walters said: "In recent years the congregation began to outgrow the facilities that the old building had to offer.

"As a result we decided to look for new premises in the Nower area of the town so we could maintain our longstanding involvement in the local community."

The church will now be known as The Nower Church.

Over the years, generations of Dorking children have attended its Sunday school classes.

Mr Walters added: "The performing arts centre provides the church with the extra space for our growing congregation along with additional rooms for youth and children's ministries."

The church meets every Sunday at 10.30am.
