Suspected attempted robbery at Banstead jewellers - Recap

A suspected attempted robbery has taken place at a jewellers in Banstead this afternoon (Friday).

Surrey Police has issued an appeal for witnesses after the incident at Campbells Of Banstead Ltd at number 35 High Street.

Police were called at about 2.15pm and have since set up a cordon around the front of the store where a motorbike can be seen abandoned on the ground.

Eyewitnesses say four men arrived on motorbikes and carrying weapons, and began damaging the front of the store. A van driver is then reported to have knocked over their bikes at which point the men fled.

Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference P17148422.
